The adventure begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Cholula at an appointed time, leading us to the stunning Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park.
Our trek launches from Paso de Cortés, a significant mountain pass nestled between the majestic Iztaccíhuatl and Popocatépetl volcanoes. Here, we will engage in a high-altitude hike, enveloped by lush pine forests and striking volcanic terrains, with breathtaking views that evolve with each step.
We will traverse from an elevation of 11,482 ft (3,500 m) to La Joya, which stands at around 12,795 ft (3,900 m) above sea level. The total distance covered will be approximately 8.69 mi (14 km), featuring a vertical climb of 400 meters, making it suitable for individuals with basic to intermediate fitness levels eager to explore the mountains comfortably.
Along our path, there will be opportunities to soak in remarkable sights of Popocatépetl, celebrated as one of Mexico’s most renowned active volcanoes.
After approximately 4 hours of hiking, we will return to the starting location. Our journey concludes with a return to your hotel in Cholula, approximately 7 hours following the initial pickup.
