Fatehpur Sikri was only occupied for a short period of fewer than 20 years due to the water shortage in the region. Commissioned by Mughal emperor Akbar in the 16th century, this once-thriving city eventually faded from memory. Nevertheless, its remarkable architectural legacy continues to attract visitors today.
During our visit, we will see the stunning Buland Darwaza Gate, the mosque, the tomb of the saint Salim Chishti, along with other significant sites.
After our time at Fatehpur Sikri, we will board the bus again and travel for approximately two hours to Abhaneri, where the renowned Chand Baori stepwell awaits. This place is certainly one of the most enchanting and photogenic spots in Rajasthan.
Stepping back to the 9th century, we will delve into the history of this expansive water-reservoir, which has earned its place as one of India's most iconic monuments. You will discover the reasons behind the selection of this location for housing the deepest stepwell in the entire country.
Finally, after an eight-hour excursion, we will return you to your hotel in Agra. If you prefer, we can also conclude the tour in Jaipur and drop you off at a convenient location in the city center.
