6-day Bolivia Hiking Journey
Day 1
Your adventure begins with a 6 am pick-up from your hotel in Tarija. We will drive toward the Tariquía National Reserve, a stunning natural expanse located in the southeastern part of the Tarija region. After approximately two hours on the road, we will reach Abra de la Hondura, the starting point of our first hiking experience.
As we traverse rivers and canyons, we will arrive at the Cerro de la Escalera viewpoint, where you can admire panoramic views of the distant town of Patanchada, nestled within the reserve. Our day will conclude with a visit to the community of San José, where we'll establish our campsite for the night.
Day 2
After a hearty breakfast, we will continue our trek towards the viewing area of Abra Potrerillo, an ideal spot to rest and enjoy lunch. Our hiking path will lead us further through picturesque rivers and majestic mountains, culminating in our arrival at the town of Abra Potrerillo. Here, you will find ample free time for optional activities such as horseback riding.
Day 3
With a good breakfast to fuel us, we’ll head out towards the town of Motoví. This quaint village is renowned for its unique Piedra Ombliguda, a natural rock formation reminiscent of a belly button!
The afternoon allows us to explore Motoví and delve into its myths and folklore, providing insights into the culture before we settle down for the night.
Day 4
On the fourth day, following breakfast, we will set out for the community of La Cueva, which was once home to the Guarani people. The area is steeped in fascinating history, which will be revealed to us upon our arrival. We will dedicate the day to discovering the intriguing surroundings before pitching our tents for another night under the stars.
Day 5
As we approach the penultimate day, we’ll have breakfast and make our way to Cambarí, an extraordinary natural setting well-known for its diverse wildlife. This region, part of the Tariquía National Reserve, serves as a sanctuary for conservation species, including the taruca or Andean deer, the jukumari bear, and the military parrot.
