Fort of Saint-André Tickets

This access ticket grants you entry to the Fort of Saint-André, allowing you to explore one of the most significant medieval fortifications in Provence.

Why Explore Fort Saint-André?

Situated in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, at the core of Provence, the Saint-André fortress serves as a pivotal example of 14th-century French military architecture.

Commissioned by King Philip IV, known as "the Fair", this stronghold was designed to assert his dominance. Its strategic position on a promontory by the banks of the Rhône was not chosen by chance.

While on the ramparts of the fort, you will be treated to breathtaking views of Avignon, the historic city once ruled by popes. On a clear day, you may also catch glimpses of the surrounding natural beauty, including the iconic Mont Ventoux and the nearby Alpilles and Luberon massifs.

Operating Hours

The Fort of Saint-André welcomes visitors daily, with the following schedule:

• From October 1 to May 31: 10 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm
• From June 1 to July 13: 10 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 6 pm
• From July 14 to August 31: 9 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 6 pm
• From September 1 to 30: 10 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 6 pm

Please note that the last entry is allowed one hour prior to the closing time.

Special Closure Dates

• On November 12 and November 20, the fort will be inaccessible from 10 am to 1 pm.
• On December 24 and December 31, it will close early at 4 pm.

Admission Fees

Entry to the Fort of Saint-André is complimentary for:

• Young adults aged 18 to 25 from the European Union.
• All children under 18, regardless of nationality.

Additionally, free admission is granted to everyone on the first Sunday of each month from January 1 to March 31, between November 1 and December 31, and during the third weekend of September.

For free admission, it is necessary to visit the ticket office and provide a certifying document to validate eligibility.
