Tour Description
At the designated time, we will collect you from your accommodation in Chiclayo and begin our adventure into the depths of the Mochica civilization. Our first destination is the Huaca Rajada archaeological complex located in Sipán, the gateway to many historical mysteries!
This significant site is famous for the discovery of the Lord of Sipán's tomb, an important figure from the 3rd century AD within the Mochica society. This finding has been instrumental in uncovering details about pre-Columbian Peru's legacy. We will delve into the site and visit the Huaca Rajada-Sipán Site Museum to gain a deeper understanding of this remarkable archaeological gem.
Following this, we will travel to Lambayeque, where you can enjoy an hour’s break to savor lunch at one of the local dining establishments in the area.
We will then proceed to the distinguished Museum of the Royal Tombs of Sipán, which features intricate replicas representing the tombs of the Lord of Sipán, the Old Lord of Sipán, and the Mochica warrior priest. Through these exhibitions, we will gain profound insights into the rich funerary customs of the Mochica people. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to view the actual mummy of the Lord of Sipán, often celebrated as the “Tutankhamun of the Americas.”
Our last visit will be the Brüning National Archaeological Museum, named in honor of the German scholar who dedicated his research to ancient Peruvian cultures. Here, an impressive array of artifacts awaits, showcasing the legacies of the Lambayeque, Moche, Chavín, Vicús, and Inca civilizations.
After a day filled with cultural enrichment, we will return to Chiclayo, bringing you back to your hotel approximately 8 hours after our departure.
