Dana Lixenberg. American Images
Dana Lixenberg (born in Amsterdam, 1964) is a significant name in contemporary documentary photography. Her impactful work, primarily conducted in the United States, is characterized by a close and unbiased perspective, addressing themes of inequality, identity, and resilience.
This exhibition, organized in partnership with the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP), showcases some of her most pivotal projects, from Imperial Courts—originating post-1992 Los Angeles protests—to her insightful portraits from Jeffersonville (Indiana) and Shishmaref (Alaska), spanning over thirty years and focusing on marginalized communities, popular culture figures, and social contexts.
KBr Flama'26
The sixth annual event by KBr Fundación MAPFRE highlights emerging photographers who kickstarted their careers following their training in Barcelona. This exhibition displays works by Sara Bravo, Elena Bulet i Llopis, Meghan Mathews, and Luca Gaetano Pira, four young artists who approach universal themes through their personal narratives. Their projects blend documentary photography with staged elements to examine the visibility and challenges faced by the LGBTIQA+ community, along with exploring family heritage and memories.
