Tour Overview
After collecting you from your hotel in Cairo or Giza, we will set out towards the historic core of one of Africa's largest cities.
Our journey will commence at the Cairo Citadel, an impressive medieval stronghold that stands as the most recognized non-ancient structure in the city. Within its walls, we will admire the stunningly adorned Mohamed Ali Mosque, famous for its alabaster facade made of soft white stone.
Once we have explored the fortress, we will proceed to the renowned Khan el-Khalili market, widely regarded as the most iconic market in Cairo. Its winding alleyways resemble an authentic open-air bazaar, where Khan el-Khalili serves as the ideal spot for acquiring souvenirs and replicas of ancient Egyptian artifacts.
A short break for lunch will follow our market visit, with a menu featuring a selection of salads and a main dish accompanied by rice and vegetables. We will conclude our meal with a refreshing fruit salad.
In the afternoon, we will dedicate an hour and a half to discovering the Egyptian Museum located in Tahrir Square, one of the leading museums focused on Pharaonic heritage. Highlights include the Narmer Palette, colossal statues such as those of Amenhotep III, and an extensive collection of sarcophagi and jewels. It is important to note that this museum differs from the New Egyptian Museum.
We will then traverse Coptic Cairo, a neighborhood rich in uniqueness, stopping by Al-Muallaqa, or the hanging church, which is built atop the foundations of the Tower of Babylon. Our final visit will be to the church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus, also known as the cave church, where the Holy Family is said to have sought refuge during their time in Egypt.
