Join us on a captivating journey through the iconic Guarani and Japanese cultures at Yguazú, where we will delve into the vibrant traditions and ways of life of the diverse communities in eastern Paraguay.

Guarani and Japanese Cultural Exploration in Yguazú

Our adventure begins at Shopping del Este Mall, where we will set out towards the enchanting municipality of Yguazú, situated in Alto Paraná on the eastern side of Paraguay. This area is renowned for its significant population of both Japanese and Guarani communities, promising a day rich in cultural discovery!

We will first visit the Guarani World Experiential Circuit, an important cultural center nestled within the Atlantic Forest of Alto Paraná. This site, located in the Yguazú Nature Reserve, near Yguazú Lake, serves as an exceptional introduction to the profound cultural heritage of the Guarani people in this region.

Following this immersive experience, we will proceed to the Takuonji Buddhist temple. This remarkable location offers insights into the historical ties between the Japanese immigrants and the land they embraced in Paraguay. We will explore the reasons behind the influx of Japanese settlers to Yguazú in the 1960s and more at this serene temple that is home to a stunning Buddha statue standing over 7 meters (22 feet) tall.

After this enlightening stop, we will take a moment to refuel with lunch at one of the local dining establishments in the area. Once revitalized, we will continue our exploration with a visit to the Immigrant Museum. This intriguing museum showcases an array of items, such as photographs, calculators, typewriters, and sewing machines, which provide a fascinating insight into daily life. The exhibits connect us directly to Japan, highlighting the personal possessions of the early Japanese immigrants who traveled from La Colmena to Yguazú, recognized as the origin of Japanese immigration in Paraguay.

As our museum tour concludes, we will make our way back to the initial meeting point in Ciudad del Este, wrapping up our enlightening experience approximately 4 to 5 hours after we began.
