On this off-roading day trip, we will visit the Balcones de El Calafate. You can choose between a zip line adventure or a hiking route upon arrival.
Activity Details
Pickup will be from your El Calafate hotel at the agreed time, followed by an off-roading adventure through the Huyliche range. En route, witness the Andes Mountains, the Patagonian Continental Ice Field, the steppe, and Argentino Lake.
We will stop at Cerro Huyliche to take in views of the rock formations at Balcones de El Calafate, with sights of Cerro Fitz Roy and Perito Moreno Glacier on clear days. Look for the great condor if conditions permit.
You can then choose between a zipline ride or a hiking adventure. Afterward, we will head to Estancia Huyliche for a lunch or snack. Lunch options include a meat empanada, lamb or beef casserole, chocolate mousse, and your choice of beverage. The afternoon snack consists of coffee, tea, juice, homemade cake, and scones.
Following the meal, we will return to El Calafate, arriving approximately 4 hours post pickup.
Tickets
For ticket reservations, choose between two options:
Zipline Adventure
This medium-difficulty activity features a two-hour journey on a circuit with four ziplines spanning 2920 meters (9580 feet).
Hiking Route
This easy-level hiking route lasts 1.5 hours, exploring the stone labyrinths and possible fossil remains.
Activity Schedule
Activity times vary by season:
- Zipline: October to March at 10 am, 3 pm, and 6 pm; April to September at 11 am and 3 pm
- Hiking: Operates November to March at 10 am and 3 pm
Itinerary Changes
In winter (April to September), part of the 4x4 route may be inaccessible due to snow or mud, limiting our route to 800 meters (2,624 feet) to the "East" Balcony. For ziplines, only the third and fourth lines may operate, subject to ground conditions such as mud or ice for safety.
