Fontainebleau Palace

Located in the picturesque Paris-Isle de France region, the Palace of Fontainebleau is just over an hour's drive or a brief 40-minute train ride from central Paris.

Although its origins date back to the medieval era, the palace reached its peak during the Renaissance, particularly in the 16th century, under the artistic vision of King François I.

Château de Fontainebleau

This magnificent palace, featuring around 1,500 rooms, houses the lavish quarters once occupied by royalty. Each room reflects the luxury and design preferences of the respective kings, with standout spaces such as the Salon Louis XIII, the Salon François I, and the ornate throne room of Napoleon I.

Napoleon I Museum

This museum dedicated to the First Empire (1804-1814) showcases a remarkable array of artifacts, including furniture, artwork, paintings, sculptures, weapons, costumes, ceramics, and pottery associated with the decade-long reign of Napoleon I.

Parks and Gardens

Spanning a vast 130 hectares, the expansive park features delightful areas, including the English and Diana gardens, a tranquil carp pond, and the impressive Grand Canal.

Opening Hours

Fontainebleau Palace

The palace and the Napoleon I Museum are open daily (excluding Tuesdays) during the following hours:

• From April to September: 9:30 am to 6 pm (last entry at 5:15 pm)
• From October to March: 9:30 am to 5 pm (last entry at 4:15 pm)

Note that several rooms may close earlier than the general hours. For security reasons, some areas may be closed at various times throughout the year.

Typically, visitors should allocate approximately two hours for a complete tour of the palace.

Palace Courtyards and Gardens

• From November to February: 9 am to 5 pm (last entry at 4 pm)
• From March to October: 9 am to 6 pm (last entry at 5 pm)

The Diana and English Gardens might close earlier than scheduled. In severe weather conditions, access to these gardens and other green areas could be restricted for the day.

The park is accessible 24 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The Marrier gate is open from 9 am to 7:30 pm.
