Following your hotel pickup, we will depart from Port of Spain and head towards Lopinot, situated in northern Trinidad and Tobago. This area boasts a unique character shaped by the fusion of French influences from its early settlers and the vibrant Caribbean culture of Trinidad.
Our journey will commence at the Count of Lopinot's prison, where we will delve into the rich history of this estate and explore its cocoa plantations. Did you know they perform a traditional dance dedicated to cocoa? We will uncover its meaning and dance to the lively rhythms of parang music, blending Venezuelan and African sounds.
Afterward, we'll proceed to the chocolate factory, renowned for producing some of the island's finest cocoa chocolate. Here, we will observe the manufacturing process and discover the unique artisanal shapes they create with the chocolate. Naturally, a delightful chocolate tasting will be part of our experience!
Next, we'll visit the farm of Sr. Cyril Cooper, an expansive plantation of cocoa and coffee, where we will find the oldest tree in Lopinot. We'll learn about the significance of this century-old tree to the local community.
To conclude our adventure, we’ll explore the heart-shaped Martin Gomez cave. We'll venture inside to encounter the various bats, birds, and insects that call it home. It is said that the cave might hold more than just wildlife... Prepare to hear about the legends of apparitions associated with this site!
