What to Expect During Your Grand Egyptian Museum Tour

The itinerary and experience will differ based on your chosen option when booking:

• Half-day options (2-hour exploration): We will collect you from your hotel in Cairo or Giza and transport you to the museum in a comfortable vehicle. After a 2-hour tour (guided or self-guided), you will return to your accommodation, with a total duration of 3 to 4 hours including transport.
• Full-day options (3-hour exploration + lunch + free time): You will be picked up and taken to the GEM, where a 3-hour exploration (with or without a guide) awaits. Enjoy a meal at a restaurant within the museum and take some time to discover the facilities or visit the gift shop before returning to your hotel, arriving 7 to 8 hours after the start.

Highlights of the Guided Tour

For participants of the guided options, the journey begins with a view of the stunning obelisk standing on a four-legged pedestal. This monumental structure, dedicated to Ramses II, is positioned outside the entrance of the museum.

Following our observation of the obelisk, we will enter through the Grand Hall. This breathtaking entrance features a 12 m (39 ft) statue of Pharaoh Ramses II, along with 10 statues of Senusret I, the column of Merenptah, and various Ptolemaic statues.

Illuminated by daylight streaming through the glass ceiling, the Grand Staircase captures attention within this magnificent foyer. Ascending this monumental staircase leads us to the permanent exhibition halls, showcasing an extraordinary selection of sculptures.

As we traverse the staircase, a myriad of sculptures depicting Egyptian deities and pharaohs, along with stone columns and sarcophagi, will be visible, all connecting to the ancient Egyptians' beliefs about the afterlife.

Within the permanent galleries, you will witness the complete treasures of Tutankhamun as well as the awe-inspiring solar boat of Khufu, among many other ancient wonders.

We will also have access to a glass-enclosed area offering views of the Pyramids of Giza in the background. After the tour, especially for full-day options, enjoy lunch at the museum restaurant followed by leisurely exploration.

The museum visit will conclude at the gift shop, where you can acquire replicas of Egyptian artifacts, cookbooks inspired by Ancient Egypt, handmade crafts, and various other keepsakes.
