Day Trip Overview
Your adventure begins at 8:30 am with a pickup from your hotel in Bacalar. From there, we will embark on the journey to the Calakmul archaeological site, a key area within the Mayan civilization.
After approximately 4 hours of travel, we will arrive at one of the most crucial locations of the ancient Mayan world. Discovered by accident, Calakmul spans nearly 27 square miles (70 square kilometers) and is home to over 6000 hidden structures.
During your visit to this archaeological site, you will explore several stelae—stone monuments adorned with ancient engravings that narrate the legacy of the Mayan culture during its time in Calakmul. Additionally, you will uncover the five principal structures of the site, including the Great Plaza, Ballcourt, and Acropolis.
After fully experiencing Calakmul, we will board the bus for our return journey to the hotels in Bacalar.
