Our adventure commences at the DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station, where we gather to set off for Zaanse Schans, an open-air museum that showcases life in the Netherlands during the 18th and 19th centuries. Prepare to be captivated by remarkable vistas!
In approximately 30 minutes, we will reach this renowned windmill village, making our initial stop at a clog factory. Here, you will observe a live demonstration showcasing the traditional craftsmanship involved in creating these iconic wooden footwear.
Next, we will visit another factory to delve into the art of Dutch cheese making, complete with a sampling session. In addition, we will wander through various museums and appreciate the authentic architecture that characterizes the region. Naturally, a photo opportunity at the famous windmills is a must before we leave.
Following our 2-hour exploration of Zaanse Schans, we will proceed to Giethoorn, a scenic village located about 1.5 hours away. Along the route, our guide will share fascinating insights about Dutch history and the beautiful landscapes we traverse, including a glimpse of the largest man-made lake in the country.
