Immerse yourself in the colonial soul of Guatemala! At the agreed time, we'll collect you from your hotel in Guatemala City and set off towards Antigua Guatemala in the southwest. Get ready to discover the most enchanting city in Central America!
After about 2 hours of travel, we will greet you with a charming landscape featuring cobblestone pathways, vibrant buildings, and a rich history woven into the atmosphere. Our first stop will be the Central Square, where the majestic Cathedral of San Jose, the Palace of the Captains, City Hall, and the Gate reveal stories of past earthquakes and significant restorations.
We’ll stroll along Calle del Arco until we reach the stunning yellow structure of the Church of La Merced, renowned for its striking baroque design. Interestingly, local legend claims it is constructed from corn! From there, our journey takes us to the Jade Museum, where you’ll uncover the deep connection between this precious stone and Maya civilization. You will also have time to wander through the handicrafts market, a dream destination for enthusiasts of indigenous artistry!
Feeling hungry? You’ll have 1.5 hours of leisure time to savor a meal at one of Antigua Guatemala's top-rated restaurants. After lunch, our adventure continues at La Azotea, a coffee plantation located just outside the historic center. Here, we’ll embark on a 1.5-hour guided tour to gain insights into the production of Guatemalan highland coffee. Experience the journey from bean harvesting to the artisanal roasting and packaging processes. In case La Azotea is unavailable, we will visit the Filadelfia or Colombia coffee farms as an alternative.
Concluding the tour at the farm, you will have the opportunity to taste a cup of coffee that embodies the flavor of these fertile volcanic regions. Finally, we will make our way back to the capital, dropping you off at your hotel approximately 8 hours after departure.
