Our adventure begins with a prompt pickup from your accommodation in Tangier. From there, we will embark on a journey of roughly 1 hour towards Tetouan, celebrated as the white city of Morocco.
Upon arrival, we will enjoy a 2-hour guided exploration of the historic center of Tetouan. Our walk will commence with a visit to the charming lanes of the Medina, designated as a World Heritage Site. This vibrant area showcases a distinct combination of Andalusian artistry and classic Moroccan architectural elements.
As we wander through the Medina, numerous artisan shops offering leather goods, textiles, jewelry, and traditional crafts will be visible. Along our path, we will encounter notable landmarks of the old town, including the Royal Palace and the Archaeological Museum located in the historic Mechouar Square, previously known as Plaza de España.
Our journey will then lead us into Tetouan’s Jewish quarter, where we will delve into its remarkable Hebrew history. We’ll further explore the Ensanche, the Spanish neighborhood, where the striking Church of Our Lady of Victories, a neo-Mudejar structure dating back to 1925, is found, renowned for its vibrant yellow façade.
After taking in the beauty of the church and other architectural highlights of Tetouan’s Spanish sector, you will enjoy 1.5 hours of leisure time to relax and discover the streets and squares that interest you the most.
