For those yet to explore the southern region of Fuerteventura, this day trip offers a unique opportunity to visit the renowned Ajuy Caves. Additionally, we will venture to the JandíaPeninsula to experience the stunning Sotavento Beach located in Costa Calma.
Day Trip Overview
Our adventure begins at the designated time with pickup from your accommodation. The first stop will be the village of Los Alares, where we’ll visit the Casa del Queso, a traditional Majorero farm that showcases the local lifestyle.
During the visit, participants will partake in a sampling of authentic Fuerteventura products. Highlights include the island's renowned goat cheese served with gofio (Canarian flour), as well as fresh cheese infused with paprika, smoked cheese, various mojos (green and spicy), cactus, papaya and orange jam, honey rum, and almogrote (a cheese spread).
Following the tasting experience, we will proceed to the Ajuy Caves for a 1-hour exploration. These remarkable formations are recognized as the oldest in the Canary Islands, created by the forces of underwater lava and deposited sediments. Their estimated age is around an astonishing 100 million years!
After our visit to the caves and surrounding cliffs, the journey continues to Ajuy. This quaint fishing village will provide you with 1 hour of leisure time to savor traditional Majorero dishes at your own pace.
Post-lunch, we will make our way to Costa Calma, where we can appreciate the 18 kilometers (11.2 miles) of exquisite Sotavento Beach. This beach is celebrated as one of the most picturesque spots in Fuerteventura and is known for hosting a segment of the Windsurfing World Championship annually. You’ll have 1 hour of free time to take a refreshing swim in the Atlantic Ocean.
Finally, we will commence our journey back to your hotel, with an arrival time set for approximately 7 hours after the pickup.

Important Notes
Please be aware that on Mondays and Sundays, the cheese shop will not be included in our itinerary. Instead, we will have an alternative stop at La Pared, as well as the Los Granadillos lookout point.
