On this 2-day trip to Kanchanaburi from Bangkok, you’ll embark on an adventure that includes bamboorafting and the discovery of the highlights of the region.
Activity Details
Day 1
At the scheduled time, we’ll convene at the Century Park Hotel Ratchaprarop to depart for Kanchanaburi province, located 128 km (80 miles) west of Bangkok.
Upon arrival, we’ll visit the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, an interactive museum dedicated to the history of the Thailand-Burma Railway where you’ll gain insights into its historical significance.
Next, we’ll journey to the renowned Bridge over the River Kwai, part of the Death Railway constructed by Allied POWs. We’ll then arrive at Saphan Kwae Yai Station, Ban Tai, where we’ll board a historic train of the Death Railway crossing the original wooden viaducts.
We’ll arrive at Krasae Cave Station and walk along the wooden bridge built by the POWs. Following this, we’ll continue to the Raft Resort, check in, and enjoy a light lunch. After some time for relaxation, you’ll have the opportunity to try bamboo rafting before dinner and resting for the night.
Day 2
After a filling breakfast, we’ll embark on a day full of adventures. Our first destination will be the Hellfire Pass Interpretive Centre. Here, you’ll explore the history of the Burma-Thailand Railway through exhibits that highlight its construction and the challenges faced by workers. For a more immersive experience, we’ll descend down the steps behind the museum to follow the Hellfire Pass Memorial Trail, which runs along the original railway route.
Afterward, we’ll have lunch at a local restaurant to savor authentic regional flavors. Post-lunch, we’ll delve into the ancient history of Prasat Muang Sing Park, home to ancient temple remains and architectural structures from past civilizations, a place rich with history waiting to be explored!
As the day winds down, filled with emotions and lasting memories, we’ll begin our return to Bangkok.
