Trip Details
Day 1
Your adventure begins with a comfortable coach ride from your accommodation, as you head towards Delphi, known to the ancient Greeks as the world's "navel." Arriving around midday, you will explore one of Greece's most fascinating archaeological locations, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
After touring the Temple of Apollo, the journey continues northward. You will pass through the towns of Lamia and Trikala, eventually arriving at Kalambaka, a charming village located near Meteora, famous for its towering sandstone cliffs harboring a network of Orthodox monasteries. Your first night will be spent in this delightful village.
Day 2
On the following day, rise early to take in the stunning vistas of Meteora, characterized by an impressive array of sandstone formations that emerged from the sea thirty million years ago, now standing as one of Greece’s most breathtaking sites.
During your visit, you’ll explore two monasteries perched atop these majestic cliffs. The first stop will be Megalo Meteoro (the oldest monastery in Meteora), followed by a visit to St. Stephen’s Monastery. Other monasteries may also be included, depending on accessibility and their operating hours.
After your guided exploration of these remarkable landmarks, you will begin your journey back to Athens. En route, there will be a stop at Thermopylae to view the Statue of King Leonidas. Please keep in mind that during the summer months, traffic restrictions may prevent this stop, allowing for more leisure time at other locations.
Expect to return to Athens by approximately 7 pm, concluding your tour with a drop-off at your hotel or the city center, based on your preference.
