Guided Walking Tour of Stone Town & Excursion to Prison Island
Your adventure begins with a pickup at your accommodation on the island of Zanzibar at the arranged time. From there, our journey leads us to Stone Town, the historic heart of the capital, where we will commence a guided walking tour.
Wander through the maze of streets in Stone Town as we delve into the history and architectural marvels of its most iconic landmarks. Among the sights, you will visit the House of Wonders, which is now home to the Museum of History and Culture of Zanzibar and the Swahili Coast. You will also explore the Palace Museum, the Old Fort, and the Anglican Cathedral, where we will pause to contemplate the slavery monument.
After concluding our walking exploration of Stone Town, we will proceed to the port and embark on a 20-minute boat journey to Prison Island. Initially established as a detention site for rebellious slaves, the island was later repurposed as a quarantine facility for yellow fever. Today, it has transformed into a picturesque resort, celebrated for its population of endangered giant tortoises.
Ultimately, we will make our way back to Stone Town, completing a memorable experience of approximately 6 hours before returning you to your hotel.
