Day Trip Overview
Our adventure begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Queenstown at the scheduled time, as we make our way to the breathtaking Milford Sound Fjord. Once onboard our comfortable minibus, we will start our journey towards the west coast of New Zealand.
As we depart from Queenstown, we'll pass alongside the picturesque Wakatipu Lake, soaking in the spectacular scenery, with the renowned Remarkables mountain range providing a striking backdrop.
During our approximately three-and-a-half-hour drive, expect to witness stunning vistas of surrounding forests, quaint towns, rivers and springs, including the stunning Lake Te Anau, New Zealand's second-largest lake. We'll take the opportunity to stop several times along the route, exploring sites like Mirror Lake, Eglinton Valley, and Monkey Creek. The breathtaking views will remind you of the landscapes depicted in The Lord of the Rings.
As we approach Milford Sound, we’ll pass by Gunn Lake, with Hollyford River and Falls Creek nearby. Upon reaching Milford Sound, we'll board our boat for a cruise of the fjord. Did you know this area holds the prestigious title of a UNESCO World Heritage Site? Before setting sail, a picnic lunch will be provided, allowing you to eat at your leisure.
During our two-hour cruise, you will be enchanted by cascading waterfalls, verdant foliage, and rugged mountains. Be sure to keep an eye out for the iconic Mitre Peak, the hallmark of Milford Sound. Throughout the journey, you may also spot native birds, sea lions, and, with some luck, dolphins.
At the conclusion of our tour, we will make our way back to the hotels in Queenstown, with an expected arrival approximately 13 hours after the initial pickup.
