Ascend to the pinnacle of Africa's iconic mountain! Experience the exceptional landscape along the Marangu route during this 7-day trek on Mount Kilimanjaro.
7-Day Mount Kilimanjaro Trek
The Marangu Route offers the quickest and simplest ascent to Kilimanjaro's summit. Most camps along this trail are equipped with running water and solar energy sources.
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
We will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation in Arusha. This is a perfect opportunity to unwind and take in the surrounding sights. Feel free to rest or explore the area before your adventure begins.
Day 2: Transfer to Marangu Gate
Following a hearty breakfast, we will convene with the guides for the Marangu route to learn key details about the climbing adventure ahead. Our journey then takes us from the hotel to Marangu Gate, marking the entrance to the eastern slopes of Kilimanjaro.
During the 8 km (5 mi) trek, keep an eye out for colobus monkeys and stroll through enchanting eucalyptus forests. We'll pause midway for lunch before proceeding to our stopping point at the Mandara Huts camp for dinner and a restful night.
Day 3: Exploring Mawenzi & Kibo Volcanoes
After breakfast, we will depart from the camp and walk for an hour through clearings in the jungle to reach a path adorned with heather, shrubs, and towering lobelias. A lunch break will allow us to take in stunning views of the Mawenzi volcano.
After covering 11 km (7 mi), we will arrive at the Horombo Huts camp, where we can view the Kibo volcano. Dinner will be served, followed by a well-deserved rest.
Day 4: Mawenzi & Kibo Volcanoes
On this day, we will prepare our hiking gear to tackle the third segment of our journey. As we traverse the heather-covered paths, we’ll arrive at the pass connecting Kilimanjaro with the other two dormant volcanoes, Mawenzi and Kibo.
Enjoy spectacular views of the volcanoes before taking a lunch break, then continue our ascent to Kibo summit. Expect several hours of hiking across stark landscapes until we reach the top, where breathtaking vistas await.
We will camp at the Kibo Huts camp, which does not have running water.
Day 5: Summit to Uhuru
Today's adventure begins early at midnight to capitalize on favorable weather conditions as we aim for Uhuru peak, the highest point of Kilimanjaro and all of Africa. Our trek will cover four kilometers (2 miles) with a stop at Gilman's Point to view the icy formations encircling the crater.
Upon reaching the summit, witness the morning light painting the sky as we stand at 5895 m (19000 ft). This moment is ideal for photography and savoring the achievement of being at Africa's highest point. The descent through the Alpine desert will take us back to Kibo Huts.
After dinner at the camp, we will retire for the night at Horombo Huts.
Day 6: Descent to Mandara Gate & Return to Arusha
Our final day on the mountain begins with the last stretch of our descent. As we traverse the moors, we will arrive at the Mandara Huts for lunch.
We will continue to descend approximately three kilometers (2 miles) to Mandara Gate, where a vehicle will transport us back to our accommodation in Arusha for a much-deserved rest. This concludes our adventure!
Day 7: Return from Arusha
We will enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading back to the airport.

- For the first and last night of the trek, we will stay at the Maura Apartments & Lodges.
