Armenia Day Trip
We will gather promptly at 8:30 am at the Avlabari metro station in Tbilisi. Our journey will commence as we head towards the border, ready to explore stunning sites in Armenia, recognized as one of the earliest Christian cultures globally.
Our first destination will be the Ajtala Monastery. Upon arrival, we will transport ourselves back to the 13th century, marveling at its exquisite architecture both outside and within. The frescoes located here serve as remarkable examples of Byzantine artistry. Additionally, we'll have the opportunity to explore the numerous caves and copper processing sites that Ajtala is renowned for, promising a fascinating experience!
Next, we will visit the Haghpat Monastery, a celebrated masterpiece of medieval ecclesiastical architecture. This complex, dating back to the 10th century, has weathered natural disasters and invasions, creating an air of mystery that we will unveil as we stroll through its surroundings.
At around 1:30 pm, we will pause for lunch at a local family's home, offering a perfect opportunity to indulge in authentic Armenian dishes!
By 4 pm, we will proceed to the Sanahin Monastery, another UNESCO World Heritage site, famous alongside Haghpat. Before arriving at Sanahin, we'll visit yet another copper factory, which will provide a glimpse into the Soviet era. Our tour will conclude with a visit to the Mikoyan Brothers Museum, where the original MiG 21 aircraft awaits your discovery.
The day will wrap up with our return to Tbilisi around 7:30 pm.
