Blarney Castle, Rock of Cashel & Cahir Castle Day Trip
On the day of your adventure, we will convene in Dublin before heading southward. Our route will take us through The Curragh, a historical open plain renowned for its significance and present-day horse training facilities, like those at the Irish National Stud's Home. As we travel, you will also catch glimpses of the majestic Galtee Mountains.
After approximately three hours on the road, our first destination will be the renowned Rock of Cashel, one of the Seven Wonders of Ireland. This remarkable site features a collection of ancient structures, some dating back to the 12th century. You will have the opportunity to visit the impressive High Cross, Romanesque Chapel, Gothic Cathedral, and the Round Tower, as well as wander through the picturesque grounds adorned with standing crosses.
Next, we will proceed to Blarney Castle, celebrated as one of the nation’s finest treasures. This medieval stronghold is famed for the Blarney Stone, said to bestow the "gift of the gab" upon those who kiss it. You will have ample time to explore the castle ruins and surrounding grounds, which feature exquisite gardens and sprawling woodlands.
The final highlight of our day will be Cahir Castle located in County Tipperary, positioned on a rocky island in the River Suir. Regarded as one of Ireland's most well-preserved castles, it still showcases much of its original 13th-century architecture. Here, we can take part in a guided tour to uncover the castle's fascinating history.
Throughout the journey, you will also experience breathtaking views of two distinct mountain ranges, including the Knockmealdown Mountains, which are immortalized in the beloved Irish folk song Kitty Borne O'Brien.
As the day concludes, we will return to Dublin, where you will be dropped off at Dame Street in the city center at approximately 7 pm.
