Are you familiar with Francisco Gómez de la Rocha and his ties to the Spanish monarchy? Unearth his fascinating narrative and significance through this informative tour of the National Mint of Bolivia in Potosí.

National Mint of Bolivia Tour

Our journey begins promptly as we convene at the Villa Imperial located in the heart of Potosí. From this central hub, we will set off on foot towards the renowned Plaza del 10 de Noviembre, the site of the National Mint of Bolivia.

This historic establishment, established in 1572 as the Royal Mint of Potosí, played a crucial role in the production of currency during the era of Spanish colonization. Notably, it was also the setting for one of history's most notorious scams. We’ll delve into these intriguing aspects as we explore the various halls within the museum.

Next, we will visit the residence of Francisco Gómez de la Rocha. Without giving too much away, it's significant to note that he masterminded the infamous coin counterfeiting operation.

After uncovering the story of Rocha and the "rochunas", we will continue our exploration of the city, taking in additional attractions such as the Santo Domingo church, San Martín church, and the convent of Santa Teresa, among other notable sites.

The excursion will conclude as we make our way back to the starting point.
