Our adventure begins at 10 am, as we leave your accommodation in Barreal and make our way by jeep towards the scenic area surrounding the Tocota River, nestled between the charming foothills of Sierra del Tontal and the majestic Andes.
In this remarkable region of San Juan, Argentina, we will discover a one-of-a-kind destination: the Hongos de Tocota rock formations. These impressive sandstone structures, sculpted by erosion over the ages, are reminiscent of giant mushrooms, with many towering between 30 and 50 feet!
As we journey through the Barreal-Rodeo depression, you'll observe various types of these enchanting rock formations. Standing beside these massive structures, you’ll feel a sense of awe due to their sheer size. While capturing memorable photos, you'll also learn about the fascinating natural processes that led to the creation of these extraordinary formations.
A break will be taken for a delightful country lunch featuring an array of local specialties. Afterwards, fully re-energized, we will head back to Barreal.
