Immerse yourself in the landscapes, heritage, and spirit of northern Serbia with this comprehensive day trip to Fruška Gora and the charming towns of Sremski Karlovci and Novi Sad from Belgrade.
Tour Overview
Our journey will begin in the morning, as we pick you up directly from your hotel in Belgrade. From there, we will head towards the picturesque Vojvodina region, traversing the lovely Pannonian plain.
Approximately an hour into our drive, our first destination will be Fruška Gora, a stunning national park renowned for its majestic mountains and affectionately dubbed the "jewel of Serbia." In this serene setting, we will explore one of the notable medieval Orthodox monasteries: the Krušedol Monastery, an enduring legacy of the Brankovi? dynasty.
Next, we will proceed to Sremski Karlovci, a small yet culturally rich town that has served as the heart of Serbia’s spiritual and cultural life for over two hundred years. Here, we will wander through the historic district, taking in the exquisite Baroque architecture and iconic landmarks including the Orthodox Cathedral of St. Nicholas and the Patriarchate Court.
Given Sremski Karlovci's esteemed winemaking heritage, we will stop by a local wine shop to indulge in a delightful tasting of above-mentioned Bermet, a distinctive local wine.
Our adventure continues as we head to Novi Sad, the second largest city in Serbia. Situated on the banks of the Danube River, Novi Sad boasts a rich tapestry of cultural influences shaped by various empires throughout its history.
One of the highlights will be our visit to the Petrovaradin Fortress, a remarkable example of 18th-century military architecture. As we tour this historic stronghold overlooking the river, you will quickly understand its reputation as the "Gibraltar of the Danube".
We will then explore the historic center of Novi Sad, where you will discover the city's diverse cultural heritage. Interestingly, it was designated as the European Capital of Culture for 2021.
After enjoying lunch in Novi Sad (not included in the package), we will make our way back to the original meeting point in Belgrade, concluding this enriching 8-hour journey.
